I grew up in a seven-house neighborhood (population: 27) tucked inside the overgrown ruins of a dynamite factory that shut down in the 1960s. As kids, we built forts in the factory remains, dreamed up elaborate plots, and hunted for leftover dynamite. That world of crumbling structures and endless possibility sparked my imagination early on, teaching me to see stories in the spaces left behind.

Over time, that curiosity led me to study animation (where I won a student Emmy for Las Pinatas) and work as an environment artist on games like Spore DS and Spiderman DS. Now, I live in Victoria, BC with my husband and two kids, working as a children’s illustrator.

A few years ago, cancer upended my life. During two years of treatment, I dove into statistics and molecular biology - and it became a lasting fascination. That path led me to pursue a master’s in bioinformatics and sparked a deep interest in the beauty and mystery of the world, both around and within us. I try to let that wonder - plus a touch of goofiness - show through in my art.
